Mass Effect: Andromeda Review

A Lucky Win:

I’ve entered daily competitions for years, winning everything from small prizes to a trip to Liverpool. This time, I won something different: a video game.

While browsing Allkeyshop — usually just for price comparisons — I stumbled across their daily Gleam competition. At first, I doubted it was legitimate, but then an email arrived saying I had won Mass Effect: Andromeda. Five days later, the key landed in my inbox, ready to redeem on Origin.

I’m not usually a sci-fi gamer, preferring fantasy worlds like The Witcher 3 or Dragon’s Dogma, and I hadn’t played the original Mass Effect trilogy. Still, I was curious to try this £39.99 title (at launch) and see what it had to offer.

Plants vs Zombies Review

Introduction:

I was introduced to Plants vs Zombies by my nephew, who couldn’t stop raving about it. At first, I wasn’t sure it would be my kind of game, but since it was free to install on my Nexus 7, I gave it a try — and I’m glad I did. Years later, after moving over to Apple devices, I re-downloaded it and was blown away by how sharp it looks on Retina displays (though the free versions do come with ads).

I’ve since tried it across multiple platforms — from PC via Origin’s On The House deal to the browser version on PopCap’s website — and while the graphics vary, the gameplay has always been addictive.

Peggle Nights Review

A Different Pace:

Since Scarlett came into my life, with all the ups and downs of pregnancy and the sleepless nights that followed, my gaming habits have undergone a shift. Normally, I enjoy large open-world games with rich stories, but lately I’ve turned to smaller puzzle titles — something I can dip into without losing hours at a time. That’s how I found myself revisiting Peggle Nights, the sequel to Peggle, made by PopCap Games.
